We are pleased to announce a new stockist in one of Boneshaker’s founders home county of Essex. Good friend of Cally Calloman (featured in issue 2), we are chuffed to have our publication stocked amongst such good company. Find out more about The Old Bicycle Showroom here.
We are happy to announce that we will soon have a stockist in Oxford, Cycle Oxford.
We will be getting the new issue out to them very soon, however in the meantime, they are putting on something that sounds like a lot of fun at the start of December:
Scrabble on Bicycles?!?
December 5th will see the biggest game of Scrabble possibly ever played, take place on the streets of Oxford with participants on bicycles. The idea was dreamt up by Simon Li and Dan Harris at Cycle Oxford, well known for their fancy dress bicycle treasure hunt style Alleycats around the streets of Oxford. Unlike Alleycats this bicycle scrabble event is going to take place on a Sunday afternoon and end with a tea party with scones and jam.
Organiser Dan Harris says “ We’re always looking for novel ways to get people out on their bicycles in Oxford and when Simon suggested this idea we just had to find a way to make it work”. The plan is to hide 30 checkpoints around the city with a different scrabble letter in each. Participants then have up to an hour to collect as many tiles as they can, from which they have to select which eight tiles they want to enter the game with.Participants then have to join the game in the order that they return to the finish. So the challenge is whether to spend extra time finding tiles, or return to the finish with the first eight collected.
The winner will be the highest scoring word. In the case of a draw more scrabble shenanagins will be brought into play. The winner will receive a copy of Bone-Shaker Magazine and a Bone-Shaker t-shirt, to mark the fact that Cycle Oxford is now stocking it in Oxford.

We are very pleased to announce XÜ as our online stockist in France. Not just an acronym, but a rallying call for urban cycling citizenship, XÜ proposes an European online store enabling the purchase of cycles and accessories in an “ecologically” responsible manner. We are chuffed that they want to respresent Boneshaker in France and also in Europe too.
The day started early, with three of us Boneshakers catching a train from Bristol to London town, one on a tall bike, one on a bike loaded with panniers and the other with a trailer full of artwork. We arrived at the lovely Look Mum No Hands mid morning and started to get the art on the walls. Stopping only to enjoy the delights of their smoothies, coffee and pies, we worked through until mid afternoon.
Andrew from Fingerprint came down and we talked about the joy of printed publications and what we could work on together in the future. Will and James from Brother Cycles also made it down, helping us sample the beer and talking about an exciting feature on them for issue 4 of the magazine. A good time had by all that came.
The show is on until Thursday 14th and there is talk of a small closing party, so we’ll keep you posted on that front….
